Sahuarita is a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. Sahuarita is located south of the Tohono O’odhamNation and abuts the north end of Green Valley, 15 miles (24 km) south of Tucson


Sahuarita contains the master planned communities of Rancho Sahuarita & Resort, one of the newest communities (north), Quail Creek (southeast) and Madera Highlands (south) in addition to the residential neighborhoods of La Joya (southwest), Valle Verde del Norte (established in 1979), Los Colonias and Los Arroyos (west). The town has 92 acres of public and private parks and recreation facilities, with approximately 125 acres more parkland proposed.

The master planned community of Rancho Sahuarita began as 3,000 acres of dormant farmland in Sahuarita, Arizona, a rural community south of Tucson.

Bob Sharpe, Founder of Rancho Sahuarita, acquired the land in the 1980s with a dream of creating a place that thousands of families would one day call home. Over the following decade, Sharpe worked with the residents of Sahuarita to develop plans for what would become Rancho Sahuarita, the most highly amenitized master-planned community in Southern Arizona.

In 2002 the first family moved into Rancho Sahuarita. During the next 12 years, more than 18,000 people moved to Rancho Sahuarita to enjoy an unmatched lifestyle and experience.

More than 5,000 homes have been built in Rancho Sahuarita, and it continues to grow as new families join the community each day.

Rancho Sahuarita also includes rich opportunities for recreation and connection. The entire property is a playground for all ages, with abundant trails, parks, pools, and open space.

Club Rancho Sahuarita, the community recreation center, also organizes free activities and over 180 events for residents to resident to enjoy.

Green Valley is twenty miles south of Tucson and 40 miles north of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Surrounded by copper mines, and near the cycling, hiking and birding areas of the Santa Rita Mountains, Green Valley is an unincorporated retirement community composed of 59 Homeowner Associations.

Green Valley is world renowned for its mild winters and clear blue skies.  While it does reach the occasional triple digit temperatures during the summer months, the day cools off in the evening hours just in time to enjoy a cool drink on the patio.  If grilling is your passion, the backyard grills in Green Valley are cooking year round in its desert climate.
